Periodically or on request, the City of Palm Springs works with Palm Springs Disposal Services (PSDS) and other providers to facilitate disposal and recycling of special items.

Shredding and E-waste Collection Events

The City of Palm Springs holds three events per year to shred and recycle paper and collect electronic waste. Events can end earlier if trucks fill before noon.

Details for the next event will be posted on this website about 1 month prior to the date. Events are also posted to NextDoor, Facebook, the City Calendar and local media.

Reminder: Shredding material is limited to three normal size file containers of shredding per vehicle. Size of container should be no larger than 9” X 13” X 17”. 

Any e-waste items that may contain data such as cell phones and computers will be wiped by the collection company when the material is processed. The City is using a professional service, which is a certified and licensed IT Asset Disposition specialist that manages IT assets safely and securely. 

COVID Safety Measures are in Effect Until Further Notice:

• Wear a face covering
• Stay in your car
• Put materials in the back end or trunk of your vehicle 

Bulky Items

Residential Pickup

Residential and single-family subscribers are eligible for FREE collection of appliances, furniture, eWaste, and tires. These bulky items cannot exceed 150 pounds per item and must be easily lifted by two people. This free service includes 2 bulky items per month for residential pickup. Items that don't meet these requirements will be subject to charge. You must contact PSDS at 760-327-1351 to arrange for this special pickup. 

After you have scheduled the pickup, bulky items should be brought to the curb and will be collected on your regular service day. Contact PSDS to receive instructions about placement of the articles for collection. 

Drop-off Events

PSDS also offers bulky item drop-off services periodically. Please review notices for these special events on PSDS's website for details.
