Library Card Sign-Up Month Ends
September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month. Have you ever taken a minute to think about how much your Library card is worth? Think back over the past year to recall every book you may have checked out or each ebook or audiobook you’ve downloaded. Think about the genealogy research you’ve done using the Library version of Ancestry.com or HeritageQuest or the languages you’ve learned using Mango Languages or Pronunciator. What about the daily newspapers you’ve come in to read as you’ve waited to use a public computer and the internet? What about the content you’ve downloaded—the songs, videos and magazines you got to keep? And the computer classes you’ve attended or the community programming you’ve enjoyed? If you added up the cost of all of these materials and services you’ve been able to access and utilize for FREE with your library card what do you think the total worth would be? It would be hundreds of dollars and this is just scratching the surface of all that is available to you with your Library card!
So, we hope that when you look in your wallet and see your Library card or glance at your Library key tag on your key chain that you will think about the value you are getting with your free library card. And when you do we hope that you won’t be able to contain your happiness and appreciation for the Library and you will share this message with your friends and neighbors, encouraging them to get a card if they don’t have one!
