The following individuals have qualified to appear on the ballot for Palm Springs City Council Districts 4 and 5, in the November 5, 2024 Election.
In accordance with Elections Code section 13112(b)(1)(C)(i), the Secretary of State’s office conducted a drawing of the letters of the alphabet to determine the randomized alphabet for use in the November 2024 Election.

A Ballot Measure to Maintain the Current Rate of the City’s Measure “J” Transactions and Use (Sales) Tax at 1% and to Extend the Term of the Tax By Repealing the March 31, 2037 Sunset.
CITY OF PALM SPRINGS SALES TAX EXTENSION MEASURE. To continue funding for general City services such as expanding police and fire services, maintaining and improving streets, parks and infrastructure, supporting community non-profit organizations and improving the City library; shall the measure maintaining the Measure J City sales tax at a 1% rate and extending its term by repealing its March 31, 2037 expiration date/sunset, generating approximately $22,000,000 annually until ended by voters, be adopted? |

August 12 | Last Day to Withdraw Candidate Statement (E.C. §§ 13307, 13311) The last day to withdraw the candidate statement unless there is an extension of the nomination period. Request to withdraw candidate statement must be made in writing and submitted by 5:00 p.m. Candidate statements shall remain confidential until the expiration of the filing deadline. |

FPPC Form 501, Candidate Intention Statement
To declare your candidacy for City Council, a candidate must file a Form 501, Candidate Intention Statement, and file it with the City Clerk’s Office. This form must be filed before soliciting or receiving campaign contributions or before you make expenditures from personal funds on behalf of your candidacy. Personal and campaign funds cannot be commingled, you are highly encouraged to open a separate campaign account. You are also encouraged to schedule a meeting with the City Clerk to review other pertinent forms and election procedures at your earliest convenience.
FPPC Form 410, Statement of Organization
A potential candidate may file their Form 410, Statement of Organization, separately or concurrently with their Form 501. The Form 410 must be filed with the Secretary of State (and a copy with the City Clerk’s Office) within 10 days of receiving $2,000 in contributions. The personal funds of a candidate used to seek elective office are contributions and count towards qualifying as a recipient committee.
Additionally, it is recommended for candidates to file this form early. Once received, the Secretary of State will issue a campaign ID number. This ID number is necessary and must be disclosed when engaging in various types of campaign advertising. Learn more about Campaign Advertising - Requirements and Restrictions.
Pursuant to Assembly Bill 571, candidates are subject to the State’s default limit on contributions from an individual per election at $5,500. Download the AB 571 Fact Sheet (ca.gov)
Please carefully review the City’s regulations on temporary signs. Failure to adhere to the City’s sign regulations may result in a citation and fine. Please report suspected illegal signs to the City’s Code Enforcement Division.
