Lecture @ the WMML:
Your Health: Pedestrian Safety
Join us for Your Health: Pedestrian Safety, presented by Gael Whetstone BSN RN, Coordinator for the Desert Regional Trauma Injury Prevention Program. You'll learn how to reduce your risk for injury and learn safe ways to enjoy your walk. The program will be from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. in the Cornelia White Community Room at the Welwood Murray Memorial Library (WMML) located at 100 S. Palm Canyon Dr. in downtown Palm Springs. For more information, please call the Welwood Murray Memorial Library at 760-323-8296.
The number of pedestrian fatalities is up nationally, but Palm Springs has four times the national average of pedestrian fatalities and has the highest rate in the Coachella Valley. Why is this? How does the aging process increase our risks as pedestrians? What kinds of injuries occur? How can you be safe? The Desert Regional Trauma Injury Prevention Program is focused on answering all these questions and more. Those attending this lecture will be entered into a drawing for two reflective vests and two doggie vests (donated by PS Cares).
Desert Regional Medical Center is committed to the communities throughout the Coachella Valley. Desert Regional Medical Center works hard with community partners to increase access to primary care medicine and has supported community efforts to make the valley an even better place to live, work and visit.
