Palm Springs residents and visitors are invited to celebrate the reopening of VillageFest and the Welwood Memorial Public Library on Thursday, July 1 at a special 5 p.m. ribbon-cutting in downtown hosted by the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce. The ceremony will take place in front of the Library, 100 S. Palm Canyon Drive -- and will feature members of the City Council, the VillageFest Board and members of the Library Board of Trustees.
With COVID-19 cases significantly down, the City Council recently approved the reopening of VillageFest, with a smaller footprint and safety protocols in place. The street fair is expected to expand to its original length in the coming months. During the summer, VillageFest hours of operation will be 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Starting July 1, Palm Canyon Drive from Amado Road to Tahquitz Canyon Way will be closed for VillageFest. Additionally, Museum Way between Palm Canyon Drive and Belardo Road, and Belardo Road between Andreas Road and Tahquitz Canyon will be closed. Tahquitz Canyon Way will remain open to east and west traffic.
The Welwood Murray Memorial Public Library officially reopens at 10 a.m. on July 1. The Library will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with extended hours on Thursday until 8 p.m.
