Return to Main Calendar

Using Collaborative "BIG" Family Trees

Palm Springs Genealogical Society Logo

This Zoom event is presented by the Palm Springs Genealogical Society with guest speaker Randy Seaver. Randy, a native San Diegan, is a former President of the Chula Vista Genealogical Society, and is currently the Newsletter Editor and Research Chair.  He is a member of NGS, NEHGS, SCGS, SDGS, CGSSD, and CVGS.  Randy blogs daily about genealogy subjects at Genea-Musings (www.geneamusings.com). Randy Seaver will discuss not "your tree," not "my tree," but "our tree!"  Each historical person should have one profile in a collaborative tree, and the goal should be to make that profile complete and accurate with sources, notes, and media.  In these trees, any registered user can add, edit, or delete content and a reason for doing so.  This presentation discusses the features, use, benefits, and drawbacks of WikiTree (free), Geni.com ($$), and FamilySearch Family Tree (free).
