City of Palm Springs Public Arts Commission to unveil new sculpture Dec. 21 in front of Swim Center

Members of the Palm Springs City Council and the City of Palm Springs Public Arts Commission will unveil a new sculpture “TOT” by California artist Richard Becker, the latest addition to the City’s public arts collection funded by the City of Palm Springs Public Arts Fund. Becker was a Commissioner’s Choice selection at the 30 X 30 Public Arts Show in 2019, which featured 30 ideas for public art in Palm Springs. Becker is the fourth commissioned artist from the show. The stainless steel sculpture, the 12th piece of art to be placed within the confines of Sunrise Park, will welcome residents and their families to the Palm Springs Swim Center.

WHEN & WHERE:The installation will take place at 10 a.m. onTuesday, Dec. 21in front of the Palm Springs Swim Center, 405 S. Pavilion Way.

SCULPTURE VISUAL DETAILS: 

  • TOT by artist Richard Becker, well known for his powerful and uplifting monuments 
  • Stainless steel sculpture of a “young tot” with powder coated trunks and swim goggles
