March: Most treasured possession (What would you take with you on a deserted island?) -or- How sports influenced my life?
This Zoom event is facilitated by author Kathy Weyer. Memoir Writing Basics will help you record your most significant memories, beginning your memoir writing journey! You will receive writing tips from our class facilitator, author Kathy Weyer. She will discuss best practices for memoir writing, the challenges of writing in first-person, and other helpful information. Then it’s up to you to capture your memories, refine your skills, and record your stories for posterity. Please keep each of your monthly writings to no more than 3 pages double spaced, Times Roman 12-point font requested, approximately 800 words. If you choose, you may have the opportunity to share some or all of your stories with your fellow classmates. This is great way to get feedback and hear how your stories touch others. At the end you will have ten chapters for your memoir!
Registration is required as space is limited. Please email Julie.Warren@palmspringsca.gov or call 760-416-6731 to register and for more information. This class meets on the second Wednesday of the month on Zoom from 3:00–4:00 p.m. to discuss the theme for the month. There will be a different writing theme every month and a writing kit will be available for pick-up by registered participants starting on September 2nd, 2021. The kit includes a notebook, pen, course handout and a few other surprises. New participants may be added monthly as space allows. Presented in partnership with the Friends of the Palm Springs Library.
