Soil Health & the Basics of Composting on Zoom
Please join Haley Preston, the founder, and director of Desert Compost, a community composting non-profit located in the Coachella Valley, for a lively discussion on how composting serves as a catalyst for social change and climate resilience that can strengthen our communities and help heal our planet. The program will be from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. on Zoom. Please email Julie Warren in advance of the meeting at julie.warren@palmspringsca.gov to register.
Haley Preston is the founder and director of Desert Compost, a non-profit program of the California Alliance For Community Composting. Desert Compost was organized in March of 2021 to respond to the massive and urgent need to repair the climate. Haley’s leadership galvanized a community coalition that created the first community composting site in the Coachella Valley. The organization also provides services in compost advocacy, consulting, and education. Now with the second community composting project set to open this year at UC Riverside Palm Desert Campus, Haley brings fresh perspectives on how the simple act of composting can restore our soils, drawdown carbon from the atmosphere, and imbue the much-needed hope that we need to carry out our greatest mission of all: returning the earth to her natural balance
