Mayor Lisa Middleton will deliver the annual State of the City address on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at the famed Plaza Theatre in downtown Palm Springs, one of the City’s most important historic landmarks and architectural gems.
The event, which also includes community awards, is hosted by the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce and will kick off at 6 p.m. with a video and update from Mayor Middleton and the City Council highlighting accomplishments and milestones in their districts over the past year. In addition, former Councilmember J.R. Roberts, Chairman of the Plaza Theatre Restoration Committee, along with Councilmember liaison Geoff Kors, will update the business community about ongoing fundraising efforts for the Plaza Theatre restoration.
Following the presentation, the Chamber of Commerce will present awards to four community members working to make a difference in the Palm Springs community. This year’s honorees are:
- Linda Barrack, CEO of Martha’s Village and Kitchen, Community Leadership Award.
- Greg Rodriguez, Government and Public Policy Advisor, Office of Riverside County Supervisor Manuel Perez, Community Appreciation Award.
- Scott White, CEO of the Greater Palm Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau, Economic Development Award.
- Geoff Kors, Palm Springs Councilmember and liaison to the Chamber of Commerce, PS I Love You Award.
Tickets are $80 and include reserved seating in the theatre plus access to a reception beginning at 5 p.m. at Il Corse Palm Springs, 111 N. Palm Canyon Drive across from the Plaza Theatre, 125 S. Palm Canyon Drive. To register, visit pschamber.org.
In addition, FREE seats at the Plaza Theatre will be available at the State of the City for members of the public, who do not wish to attend the reception. Residents can watch the broadcast on the City’s YouTube channel and throughout the month of May on Palm Springs Community Television.
