Leave No Trace with the Whitewater Preserve

Join us on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at 3:30 pm for Leave No Trace with the Whitewater Preserve. Ever heard the adage: Take only pictures, leave only footprints? Now you can learn how to have fun outdoors without impacting the environment! Learn about the basic principles of Leave No Trace, and how to apply them to your outdoor adventures. We’ll test your knowledge and then create poster art. Grades 6-12.

Jenifer Lopez-Valdez (she/them) Outdoor Education Coordinator, Desert Preserves. Jenifer grew up in the Southern California desert and got her degree in Marine Biology. As the Education Coordinator for the Deserts, she has had lots of practice in teaching students how to Leave No Trace and understands the importance of safe and respectful recreation outdoors. 

 

LaDonna Sofranko (she/her) Naturalist, Desert Preserves. LaDonna has been traversing the trails of Coachella Valley for years. As an avid backpacker, she has lots of experiencing in Leaving No Trace, even in the backcountry! 

 


Assisted Listening Devices (ALDs) are instruments designed to amplify sounds to make it easier for persons who are hearing‑impaired to enjoy a library program.

Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity of the City of Palm Springs, should contact the ADA Coordinator, as soon as possible but no later than 48 hours before the scheduled event.
