Join us on Thursday , June 23, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. for Emergency Food Taste Testing. Learn how to be prepared for an emergency and taste several types of emergency foods. Presented by the Palm Springs Emergency Management Coordinator Daniel DeSelms. Grades 6-12

Daniel DeSelms has been in the emergency and disaster management field for almost 25 years. He was in the United States Marine Corps where his specialty was nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons for 21 years. He has honed his expertise through planning and training for disasters all over the globe and working with small independent agencies through multi-national joint efforts. He has assisted with several world disasters including the anthrax attacks in 2001 and the response to the Indian Ocean earthquake that left over 225,000 people dead. For the past 3 years, he has worked closely with the businesses and residents of Palm Springs to make our home a safer place and help our City be more prepared to respond to any emergency through planning, training, and mitigation. He holds a Bachelor’s in emergency and disaster management and is currently working on his capstone project for a dual Master’s: a Master’s in Public Administration and a Master’s in Emergency and Disaster Management. He serves on the Riverside County multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan committee and is a member of both the California Emergency Managers Association and the International Association of Emergency Managers.
