Pursuant to Assembly Bill 361, this meeting will be conducted by teleconference and there will be no in-person public access to the meeting location.

REPORT OF THE POSTING OF AGENDA:  The agenda for this meeting was posted for public review at the City Hall bulletin board (west side of Council Chamber) by 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 29, 2023 as required by established policies and procedures.

OATH OF OFFICE OF NEWLY APPOINTED BOARD MEMBERS.

ACCEPTANCE OF THE AGENDA:  The Historic Site Preservation Board will discuss the order of the agenda, may amend the order, note abstentions, and request Consent Calendar items be removed from the consent calendar for discussion. 

PUBLIC COMMENT:   This time has been set aside for members of the public to address the Historic Site Preservation Board on agenda items and items of general interest within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Board.  Although the Historic Site Preservation Board values your comments, pursuant to the Brown Act, it generally cannot take any action on items not listed on the posted agenda.  There will be three (3) minutes assigned for each speaker.  Testimony for Public Hearings will be taken at the time of the hearing.

1.       CONSENT CALENDAR:

1.A.    APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES:  JUNE 6, 2023 HSPB MEETING.

 RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Historic Site Preservation Board Minutes of June 6, 2023.

2.       PUBLIC HEARINGS:  

2.A.    APPLICATION BY THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS FOR POSSIBLE HISTORIC DESIGNATION OF KORAKIA PENSIONE (HOTEL) LOCATED AT 257 SOUTH PATENCIO ROAD (HSPB #138) (SY)

RECOMMENDATION:
1.   Open the public hearing and take testimony

2.   Close the public hearing and adopt Resolution HSPB #138 “A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC STIE PRESERVATION BOARD OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, RECOMMENDING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL DESIGNATE “KORAKIA PENSIONE (HOTEL)” AS A CLASS 1 (LANDMARK) HISTORIC SITE HSPB #138, SUBJECT TO CONDITIONS (APN #513-132-005), AND A DETERMINATION PURSUANT TO CEQA THAT THIS ACTION IS NOT A PROJECT.

3.       UNFINISHED BUSINESS:  None.

4.       NEW BUSINESS:

4.A.    A REQUEST BY SUNLIGHT PEAK, LLC, REPRESENTED BY JAMES CIOFFI ARCHITECT, FOR APPROVAL OF MAJOR ALTERATIONS TO A CLASS 3 SITE LOCATED AT 275 TAMARISK ROAD AND ASSOCIATED REVIEW FOR POTENTIAL RE-DESIGNATION OF A CLASS 3 SITE TO A CLASS 1 OR 2 HISTORIC RESOURCE (APN #507-181-0022) HDEMO 2023-0018 (SY)

RECOMMENDATION: Take no action, allow the processing of the proposed major alterations, and determine pursuant to CEQA that this action is not a project.

 5.      DISCUSSIONS:  None.

ADJOURNMENT:  The Historic Site Preservation Board will adjourn to its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 5:30 PM.
