"How to Document, Store, Preserve and Pass on Your Family Heirlooms"
This event is presented by the Palm Springs Genealogical Society with guest speaker Floyd Ferguson. This FREE program will be from 10:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in The Learning Center.
Often our family records and treasures are put in a file drawer or shoebox and stuck up in a closet. This presentation will give you tools to 1) find the best storage location, 2) do's and don'ts regarding storage, 3) and materials to use for storage to extend the life of your genealogy.
Floyd Ferguson has always been interested in History but he developed a passion for family history. His College education focused on teaching and history with a degree in Elementary Education. Over the years there has been a lot of travel around the United States and to Scotland where the family had lived to research family history.
In the early 1980’s he served as President of the Yucaipa Valley Genealogical Society (YVGS). It was during this time that we took the society on a bus trip to Salt Lake City and he found a connection to the Royal families of Scotland. He then joined the Clans of the Highlands (COH) as Scottish Games Master followed by President for the next 14 years. During this time he had the chance to serve on the Orange County Multicultural Commission and as VP for Clan Fergus(s)on Society of North America. This also gave him the opportunity to work with many family/clan association genealogy officers and Clan Chiefs.
Following a break to raise his family the YVGS called him back and the past 12 years he has been the President of that organization.
