Palm Springs Sustainable and Wild:
Insects of the Desert
A New Lecture Partnership with the Oswit Land Trust.
Join Scott Heacox, Biologist with the University of California, Riverside Center for Conservation Biology for a discussion on the importance of desert insects. Insects are one of the most critical yet least appreciated components of our Earth's ecosystems. The deserts are no exception -- whether scurrying across the sand in the midday heat, only appearing in the darkness of night, or choosing to never leave the safety of the soil, our deserts are crawling with thousands of species of these tiny creatures. In this talk, we will discuss some of the most charismatic insects of our deserts, introduce some cryptic and bizarre characters most have never seen, and learn why these minute heroes deserve our respect and understanding. For more information or to RSVP, email David Paisley DavidP@OswitLandTrust.org.
