This event is presented by the Palm Springs Genealogical Society with guest speaker Glenn Morrison. This FREE program will be from 10:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in The Learning Center at the main library.

Glenn Morrison is proud of being a second-generation Southern California native, his mother having been born in San Bernardino, California, and his dad in Kerby Oregon.

Glenn worked about 40 years in electronics as a technician, mostly in Aerospace. Although early plans to become a commercial photographer with an entrance date to Brooks Institute for April 1969; were sidetracked when, Uncle Sam had other ideas, ergo the USMC 1969-1971. Semper Fi. Glenn still does some photography, and he also had a collection of vintage cars, as many as 9 at one time, and he still has a '69 Mustang convertible that he purchased in 1984.

In 1966 Glenn received a Ham Radio license and is still very active in that hobby. He is the current president of the Desert RATS Amateur Radio Club, consisting of over 200 members here in the valley. Almost daily Glenn makes contact with people all over the world.  Glenn has always had a love of history, in general and my own family. At home, he was the only one who would want to talk to his grandparents about their lives and experiences. He is in possession of the family Bible from his maternal side back into Ireland with documents from the 1870s.  

He also has artifacts from life on the ranch in Oregon from his paternal side and has become kind of a nut on the subject, always trying to find if someone to whom he may be related. Glenn’s tree on Ancestry has over five thousand names. Some of the relationships are a bit far-fetched, but it has been a fun and interesting adventure.
