Any person who wishes to speak regarding an item on the agenda or on a subject within the City’s jurisdiction during the “Public Comments” portion of the agenda must file a “Speaker Card” with the City Clerk BEFORE that portion of the agenda is called. Although the City Council values your comments, pursuant to the Brown Act, it generally cannot take any action on items not listed on the posted agenda.

Testimony for Public Hearings will only be taken at the time of the hearing. Any person who wishes to speak at a Public Hearing must file a “Speaker Card” with the City Clerk BEFORE the Public Hearing is called.

Pursuant to G.C. Section 54957.5(b)(2) the designated office for inspection of records in connection with the meeting is the Office of the City Clerk, City Hall, 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way. City Council meetings are webcast live on the City’s website www.palmspringsca.gov and cablecast live on PSCTV Channels 17, 26.103, and 121. Meetings are re-broadcast (following the meeting) on Thursday at 8:00 P.M., Saturday at 1:30 P.M. and Tuesday at 7:00 P.M.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the City Council of the City of Palm Springs will conduct a Special Meeting beginning at 5:30 P.M., Friday, January 17, 2014, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, 3200 East Tahquitz Canyon Way, Palm Springs. The purpose of the Special Meeting is to discuss the following items:

CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, APRIL 22, 2014, TO CONSIDER A MEASURE FOR SUBMISSION TO THE VOTERS REGARDING THE PROPOSED KIMPTON HOTEL (RESOLUTION NO. 23270 TO APPROVE A PRELIMINARY PLANNED DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT FOR A HOTEL WITHIN BLOCK C OF THE MUSEUM MARKET PLAZA SPECIFIC PLAN):

RECOMMENDATION:
1. Adopt Ordinance No. ____, “AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION ON TUESDAY, APRIL 22, 2014, FOR THE SUBMISSION TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS RESOLUTION NO. 23270 OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS APPROVING A PRELIMINARY PLANNED DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT FOR A HOTEL OF APPROXIMATELY 185 ROOMS, RESTAURANTS, MEETING ROOMS, RETAIL USES, AND ANCILLARY USES, WITHIN BLOCK C OF THE MUSEUM MARKET PLAZA SPECIFIC PLAN AT THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF WEST TAHQUITZ CANYON WAY AND BELARDO ROAD (A KIMPTON BRAND HOTEL).”    Exhibit A to Ordinance    Exhibit B to Ordinance

Adopt Resolution No. _____, “A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF RIVERSIDE TO RENDER SPECIFIED SERVICES TO THE CITY RELATING TO THE CONDUCT OF A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, APRIL 22, 2014.”

Adopt Resolution No. _____, “A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, SETTING PRIORITIES FOR FILING WRITTEN ARGUMENTS REGARDING A CITY MEASURE AT THE TUESDAY, APRIL 22, 2014, SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION AND DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO PREPARE AN IMPARTIAL ANALYSIS.”

5. Adopt Resolution No. _____, “A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, ORDERING THE CANVASS OF THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD TUESDAY, APRIL 22, 2014, BE MADE BY THE CITY CLERK.”

6. Adopt Resolution No. _____, “A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2013-14 FOR THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD TUESDAY, APRIL 22, 2014.”
