The City of Palm Springs has established a Facade Improvement Program designed to assist businesses with creating attractive and inviting storefronts and signage and encourages improvement and investment in commercial properties within the City of Palm Springs.

The Facade Improvement Program features a match grant up to $7,500 to assist in the cost of exterior improvements made by a property owner or tenant.

Eligible improvements:

• Exterior Signs.
• Awnings, canopies, or sunshades.
• Painting or exterior surface treatment.
• Asphalt paving, replacement or repair of tiles or decorative pavers; sidewalk or courtyard repaving.
• Repair or replacement of masonry walls or footings.
• Outdoor lighting.
• Installation, repair or replacement of decorative or security fencing.
• Replacement of plate glass windows; re-glazing of windows or change of window mullions.
• Installation or replacement of outdoor landscaping and fountains.
• Facade must be visible from the public right of way.

• Applicant will receive notification of approval, including matching fund grant amount.
  
  
• Once approved, obtain any required permit approvals from the City of Palm Springs Building and Safety, Planning and/or Engineering Departments.
  
  
• Applicant will sign an agreement with the City for reimbursement of funds.
  
  
• Applicant begins construction.
  
  
• The City will reimburse the applicant for work performed, based on submittal of acceptable evidence of the work performed and payment rendered for the work, including:
  • copies of paid invoices;
  • before and after photos (digital preferred);
  • credit card receipts with statements identifying the work performed;
  • copies of cancelled checks (front/back); and
  • other evidence as required by the City
    
    
• The business must be open to the public, and free of building code violations or tax liens.
