The Engineering Design Services Department is responsible for overseeing in house and contract public works design and capital improvement projects throughout the city. Projects such as street improvements, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, bikeways, bridges, traffic signal design, roadway pavement maintenance, public parking facilities, sewer and storm system projects, and public facility modifications or their repairs all fall under Capital Improvement Projects (CIP).

The Engineering Design Section also oversee the plan check process and sets the public works conditions of approval for industrial, commercial and large residential private development projects.

Developers and owners can access applications for property & right-of-way adjustments for their residential or commercial projects. Restaurant owners will also find outdoor dining agreement applications there if their dining areas encroach on public right-of-way.
