The Department of Special Program Compliance is responsible for administering the Rules and Regulations adopted by the Council for Co-Owned Housing Units within the City of Palm Springs.

 The City Council adopted Ordinance 2100 on July 9, 2024.  The Ordinance confirms:

  • Establishes a regulatory program for Co-Owned Housing Units to minimize adverse effects of these homes uses on surrounding residential neighborhoods.
  • Limits the number of Co-Owned Housing Units to 30 total. As well as the number per neighborhood after Vacation Rental neighborhood caps.
  • Provides a permitting process and imposes operational requirements.
  • Confirms Co-Owned Housing Units permit is a privilege, not a right.
