CALL TO ORDER:

REPORT OF THE POSTING OF AGENDA:  The agenda for this meeting was posted for public review at the City Hall bulletin board (west side of Council Chamber) and the Planning Department counter in accordance with applicable law. 

ACCEPTANCE OF THE AGENDA:  The Historic Site Preservation Board will discuss the order of the agenda, may amend the order, note abstentions and request Consent Calendar items be removed from the consent calendar for discussion. 

PUBLIC COMMENT:   This time has been set aside for members of the public to address the Historic Site Preservation Board on agenda items and items of general interest within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Board.  Although the Historic Site Preservation Board values your comments, pursuant to the Brown Act, it generally cannot take any action on items not listed on the posted agenda.  There will be three (3) minutes assigned for each speaker.  Testimony for Public Hearings will be taken at the time of the hearing.

 1.       CONSENT CALENDAR:

            1.A.    APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES:  FEBRUARY 9, 2016 MEETING.

                       RECOMMENDATION: Continue the item to the April 12, 2016 meeting.

 

2.       UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

           2.A.    CERTIFICATE OF APPROVAL REQUEST BY THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS FOR RENOVATION OF THE DAIS AREA IN THE CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS AT CITY HALL, A CLASS 1 HISTORIC SITE LOCATED AT 3200 EAST TAHQUITZ CANYON WAY, ZONE C-U (HSPB #33D/ CASE 3.3377) (KL).

           RECOMMENDATION:  Grant a certificate of approval for the renovations.

 

3.       NEW BUSINESS:

          3.A.    CERTIFICATE OF APPROVAL REQUEST BY CAHUILLA CHURCH, LLC, FOR A CLASS 1 HISTORIC SITE (COMMUNITY CHURCH; HSPB 23) TO ADAPTIVELY RE-USE AS A 12-ROOM HOTEL, RESTAURANT AND SPA LOCATED AT 284 SOUTH CAHUILLA ROAD, ZONE R-3 (HSPB #23/CASE 5.1345 CUP & 3.3932 MAA) (DN).

         RECOMMENDATION:  Grant a certificate approval for renovating the site.

 

4.       PUBLIC HEARINGS

          4.A.    A REQUEST BY THE HISTORIC SITE PRESERVATION BOARD FOR RECONSIDERATION OF CLASS 1 HISTORIC DESIGNATION OF “THE TOWN & COUNTRY CENTER,” LOCATED AT 174 NORTH PALM CANYON DRIVE, ZONE CBD (HSPB #51) (KL).

          RECOMMENDATION:  Provide a recommendation to the City Council.

          4.B.   AN APPLICATION BY TODD HAYS, OWNER, FOR CLASS 1 HISTORIC DESIGNATION OF 1164 NORTH CALLE ROLPH, “THE BEL VISTA RESIDENCE,” ZONE R-1-C (HSPB 100) (FF).

          RECOMMENDATION:  Provide a recommendation to the City Council.

 

5.       OLD BUSINESS:

           5.A.       CLARIFICATION OF CERTIFICATE OF APPROVAL REQUEST BY MICHAEL BECKMAN OF TRUSS AND TWINE RESTAURANT FOR FRONT ELEVATION TO INCLUDE FOLDING DOOR DETAIL TO THE EL PASEO BUILDING, A CLASS 1 HISTORIC SITE LOCATED AT 800 NORTH PALM CANYON DRIVE, ZONE C-1 (HSPB 27/CASE 3.1198 MAA) (GM).

           RECOMMENDATION:  Grant the certificate of approval.

 

6.       DISCUSSIONS: 

           6.A.    DISCUSSION OF SWIMMING POOL FENCE REPLACEMENT AT THE RACQUET CLUB COTTAGES WEST, LOCATED AT 360 CABRILLO ROAD, ZONE R-G-A(6); HISTORIC DISTRICT #HD-3 (HSPB 88) (FF).

           6.B.    2016 NATIONAL PRESERVATION MONTH EVENT (Burkett, Williamson, Ploss).

           6.C.    STAFF UPDATE ON THE STABILIZATION OF THE CORNELIA WHITE HOUSE (Franco Laurie, Public Works).
