 Pursuant to Assembly Bill 361, this meeting will be conducted by teleconference and there will be no in-person public access to the meeting location.

  • Public comment may also be submitted to sarah.yoon@palmspringsca.gov.  Transmittal prior to the meeting is required.  Any correspondence received during or after the meeting will be distributed to the Board and retained for the official record.
  • If you wish to provide public comments during the meeting via telephone, you may call the Planning Department at (760) 323-8245 by no later than 5:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting to be added to the public comment queue. At the appropriate time, a staff member will invite you to provide your public testimony.
  • The meeting will be recorded, and the audio file will be available from the Office of the City Clerk and will be posted on the City’s YouTube channel, as soon as practicable.

REPORT OF THE POSTING OF AGENDA:  The agenda for this meeting was posted for public review at the City Hall bulletin board (west side of Council Chamber) by 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 31, 2023 as required by established policies and procedures

ACCEPTANCE OF THE AGENDA:  The Historic Site Preservation Board will discuss the order of the agenda, may amend the order, note abstentions, and request Consent Calendar items be removed from the consent calendar for discussion. 

PUBLIC COMMENT:   This time has been set aside for members of the public to address the Historic Site Preservation Board on agenda items and items of general interest within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Board.  Although the Historic Site Preservation Board values your comments, pursuant to the Brown Act, it generally cannot take any action on items not listed on the posted agenda.  There will be three (3) minutes assigned for each speaker.  Testimony for Public Hearings will be taken at the time of the hearing.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS: Chair and Vice Chair.  Election of officers pursuant to PSMC 2.06.020. (Officer terms will be from this election through June 30, 2024.)

1.     CONSENT CALENDAR:  None.

2.     PUBLIC HEARINGS: 

         
2.A.   APPLICATION BY THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS FOR POSSIBLE HISTORIC DESIGNATION OF THE BLANKENHORN/GILMORE  RESIDENCE LOCATED AT 1850 SMOKE  TREE  LANE   (HSPB  148) (SY)

 RECOMMENDATION   

 
1.  Open the public hearing and take testimony

 2.  Close the public hearing and adopt Resolution HSPB #148 “A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC SITE PRESERVATION BOARD OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA, RECOMMENDING THAT THE    CITY COUNCIL DESIGNATE “THE BLANKENHORN/ GILMORE RESIDENCE” AS A CLASS 1 (LANDMARK) HISTORIC SITE HSPB #148, SUBJECT TO CONDITIONS  (APN 510-104-002, 510-104-006, 510-105-002), AND A DETERMINATION PURSUANT TO CEQA THAT THIS ACTION IS NOT A PROJECT.”

2.B.     APPLICATION BY THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS FOR POSSIBLE HISTORIC DISTRICT DESIGNATION OF “THE COUNTRY CLUB ESTATES” LOCATED AT SOUTH CAMINO REAL AND EAST LA VERNE WAY (HSPB 145 / HD 11) (SY).

          RECOMMENDATION
          1.   Open the public hearing and take testimony

2.   Close the public hearing and adopt Resolution HSPB #145 “A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC SITE PRESERVATION BOARD OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA,      RECOMMENDING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL DESIGNATE “THE COUNTRY CLUB ESTATES” AS HISTORIC DISTRICT HSPB #145 / HD-11, SUBJECT TO CONDITIONS (APN 511-150-031), AND A DETERMINATION PURSUANT TO CEQA THAT THIS ACTION IS NOT A PROJECT.”

2.C.    APPLICATION BY THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS FOR POSSIBLE HISTORIC DESIGNATION OF “THE KOERNER RESIDENCE” LOCATED AT 1275 SOUTH CALLE DE MARIA” (HSPB 150) (SY).

 RECOMMENDATION

 1.  Open the public hearing and take testimony.

 2.   Close the public hearing and adopt Resolution HSPB #150 “A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC SITE PRESERVATION BOARD OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA,   RECOMMENDING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL DESIGNATE “THE KOERNER RESIDENCE” AS A CLASS 1 (LANDMARK) HISTORIC SITE HSPB #150, SUBJECT TO CONDITIONS (APN 508-403-   003), AND A DETERMINATION PURSUANT TO CEQA THAT THIS ACTION IS NOT A PROJECT.”
