As of May 22, 2023, the city no longer accepts paper applications. All applications are submitted through the Palm Springs Online portal:
Palm Springs Municipal Code 14.16.040 requires an Encroachment Agreements (EA) are required when a property owner has a privately-owned structure, wall, fence, block/stucco mailbox, sculpture, inside public right-of-way. Commercial businesses that have balconies, metal awnings, overhead structures, sculpture, heavy or electric signage, or dining facilities that protrude into City public right-of-way. In both instances, insurance by the applicant is required that names the City as additional insured in case of injuries sustained by structural failure or damage of the privately owned installation. In some instances a Land Use Permit (LUP) is also required from Planning Services as stipulated in Palm Springs Municipal Code 94.02.01.C.b.
