The City of Palm Springs, in partnership with Neighborhood Partnership Housing Services, is pleased to offer a Housing Rehabilitation Grant program.

This program provides financial assistance to income-qualified homeowners in Palm Springs to make necessary repairs to their single-family, manufactured, or mobile homes. The goal is to improve the health, safety, and overall quality of these homes.  Eligible homeowners must meet specific income, asset and property guidelines.

We are currently unable to accept applications for the Housing Rehabilitation Grant program.  Please check back for future updates on program availability and eligibility.

What type of assistance is available?

A limited number of grants are available to income-qualified homeowners in Palm Springs to help cover the costs of necessary repairs to their primary residence.

Eligible Repairs

  • Smoke and Carbon Monoxide detector installation
  • Exterior weatherproofing and painting
  • ADA-compliant ramps, rails, and devices
  • Plaster, siding, and stucco repairs
  • Energy-efficient improvements
  • Lead-based paint and asbestos abatement
  • Roof repair or replacement
  • Water heater repair or replacement
  • HVAC system repairs
  • Door, window, and screen repair or replacement

Ineligible Repairs

  • Cosmetic repairs (e.g., landscaping, yard cleaning)
  • Repairs to properties listed for sale
  • Premature replacement of items with normal lifespans
  • Non-built-in appliances
  • Repairs resulting from intentional damage, vandalism, or neglect
  • Frequent requests for similar repairs

To be eligible for a grant, you must:

  • Be the primary owner-occupant of the home.
  • Live in Palm Springs jurisdiction
  • Meet specific income, asset and property ownership guidelines.
  • Be in good financial standing with the City, with no outstanding property taxes, fees, fines, or liens.

Grant Limitations:

  • Maximum Grant Amount: The maximum grant amount per household is $25,000.
  • Eligible Repairs: Grant funds can only be used for repairs to the main residential unit.
  • Contractor Requirements: All repair work must be performed by licensed contractors who meet specific insurance requirements.  Federal procurement and contracting polices apply.
  • City Permits and Inspections: All necessary permits and inspections will be conducted by the City of Palm Springs Building Department.

Please note that grant availability is limited, and applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

How do i apply:

The Home Rehabilitation Program is currently closed. A notice will be posted on city’s website when program reopens. Please check back periodically
