General Information

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program is a federal initiative started in 1974 that provides funding to cities to enhance the quality of life for low-income residents. As a federally designated entitlement community, Palm Springs receives annual CDBG funding to support low- and moderate-income individuals and families within our city. These funds enable us to tackle critical issues such as affordable housing, neighborhood revitalization, and economic development.

The CDBG Program has three national objectives:

  • Benefitting low and moderate-income persons;
  • Eliminating slums or blight, and
  • Meeting a particularly urgent local community development need.

For more information on the CDBG program and its eligible activities, please visit the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development HUD's website.
