The City of Palm Springs is using the laboratory at GT Molecular, to measures the amount of COVID-19 virus per liter in our wastewater treatment sewer system. This is an extra tool the City is voluntarily employing to track the disease. 

TESTING RESULTS:

Ramon Lopez, Lead Operator & Lab Supervisor collects samples at the City’s wastewater treatment plant and sends it on dry ice for testing at GT Molecular in Fort Collins, Colorado.

The City's Covid-19 Wastewater Testing Program has been honored with the following awards: 

APWA Coachella Branch - Project of Merit - Creative and Innovative: The local Coachella Valley Branch of the American Public Works Association has honored the City of Palm Springs with their highest award. The Project of Merit Award recognizes outstanding public works projects and programs here in the Coachella Valley completed between January 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021. APWA-CV represents public, private and utility company public works professionals here in the Coachella Valley. 

APWA Southern California Chapter - Building Excellence Shaping Tomorrow (B.E.S.T.) Award - Creative and Innovative - Population up to 50,000: The Southern California Chapter of the American Public Works Association has honored the City of Palm Springs with their project of the year program, B.E.S.T. Award. This award was established to recognize public agencies for outstanding capital improvement projects and public works programs; and to share good ideas displayed in these projects and programs with other APWA members. The Southern California Chapter of APWA represents APWA members in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.
